Kranji Sunday 7th October 2018. - Selections from Larry Foley of https://kranjiracing.com

race 1: class 5 (1) - 1200m (polytrack) time: 13:10 prize money: s$20000

4 - IN BOCCA AL LUPO - Caught wide and just missed in this class last outing following similar effort at previous start. Better drawn here and with Placais to ride gets chance to break through.
6 - SOUTHERN GLORY - Better on the turf but not far away in KSD last start and could figure with blinkers to winkers, Glen Boss and from the good gate.
8 - KUBERA'S CHIEF - Disappointing last start but has speed and from good gate could be hard to run down with Michael Rodd to ride.

race 2: restricted maiden (2 and 3 year old) (weight for age) - 1100m (polytrack) time: 13:40 prize money: s$85000

2 - MY BIG BOSS - Has placed at all three outings in good 2YO company. Recent trial was sound and winkers off and tongue-tie goes on. Gets back but should be hard to hold off.
10 - ARARAT LADY - Filly who looked very comfortable at Official Trials and can consider on debut.
3 - AXEL - Placed at past two outings in similar company. Should be running on.

race 3: class 4 non premier - 1600m course a (sc) (turf track) time: 14:10 prize money: s$45000

2 - NEW SENSATION - Unsuited last start. Won last outing this class and distance four starts back. With blinkers back on and John Powell to ride should be prominent.
3 - CROUCHING SUN - Racing soundly in Class 4 following Maiden win. Will find this easier and bred for this trip with gate 1 and Duric a good combination.
1 - HIDDEN PROMISE - Suited this class and distance and should be handy throughout.

race 4: kranji stakes d (set weights) - 1600m course a (sc) (turf track) time: 14:40 prize money: s$38000

1 - ZULU WARRIOR - Broke through over this trip last start. This is harder and rises 0.5kg but gets Vlad Duric and should be handy.
5 - POET'S RYKER - Broke through for Maiden win over this trip on Poly last start. Awkwardly drawn and rises 4kg but handles the turf and should be running on.
9 - VESONTIO - Not far away two starts back Class 4 over this trip. Should get a good run with CC Wong to ride.

race 5: class 5 (2) - 1200m (polytrack) time: 15:15 prize money: s$20000

8 - BOHEMIAN - Longterm maiden status a concern but excuses when running on OK last start and placed start prior. Keep very safe.
3 - GREATBALLS OF FIRE - Form moderate and would prefer longer and turf but suited this company and can figure.
2 - DONTLOOKDOWNONME - Yet to win in 19 starts but excuses last start in better company and can consider.

race 6: class 4 non premier - 1000m (polytrack) time: 15:45 prize money: s$45000

2 - WHY NOT - Led and fought on last start. 4kg claim helps and should be prominent for a long way.
5 - ABLE PINS - Resumning and recent trial was strong. Last win was this class and distance prior to break. Has had two trials and should be hard to run down from the good gate.
1 - MAN OF MYSTERY - Won Ararat Maiden over 1100m and placed another three times from eight starts before arrival. Trialled solidly. Can show up with Vlad Duric from good gate.

race 7: kranji stakes b (1) (set weights) - 1100m (polytrack) time: 16:15 prize money: s$100000

5 - NOWYOUSEE - Promising. Bolted in last start in Class 3 company, This is harder and has 1kg more but from gate two should be prominent throughout.
6 - SIR ISAAC - Won KSA with late run and no weight and has trialled well since. Rises 7.5kg but gets Michael Rodd and should be charging late.
2 - AUTUMN RUSH - Caught wide last start and hampered into straight. Should get a better run here and can be in the finish.

race 8: class 3 - 1600m course a (sc) (turf track) time: 16:50 prize money: s$80000

7 - REDDOT RISING - Not disgraced when making up ground late in the Moonbeam Vase and has the same weight to carry in this field. Can win.
3 - GOLD CITY - Very honest swooper who will make his presence felt late if race run to suit.
2 - LITTLE BIG MAN - Never got involved from wide gate last start but best work late suggests more to offer in a race that suits.

race 9: kranji stakes b (2) (set weights) - 1100m (polytrack) time: 17:25 prize money: s$100000

8 - ZAC KASA - Caught wide when resuming before running on after big effort in Lion City Cup at his start prior. The one to beat.
6 - BIRAZ - Looked the winner two starts back in KSA Company on the Poly and a repeat of that effort has him having a huge say here.
10 - YULONG XIONGYIN - Hard to fault form at four starts in Singapore and could try to make every post a winner from gate 2.

race 10: class 4 non premier - 1100m (polytrack) time: 17:55 prize money: s$45000

4 - CALCULATION - Impressed winning comfortably on debut (although odds on pop ran off track) and can win again in this field.
2 - PIONEER SEVEN - Veteran who has found form of late and could easily show up in this company.
5 - STAR GENIUS - Never involved before best work late last start suggests more to offer with blinkers removed for this.

Go tell it to the to the marines

Do think about it and do think rationally, long and very hard about it - If you can genuinely tell me that you really know when and where your winners will come from !!

Or else

Go tell it to the marines,

or Go take a long walk off a short pier,

or let me put it to you bluntly - Go get stuffed

It does not much matter at all whether you are selling kachang puteh or a high roller.

It does not much matter at all whether you are selling kachang puteh or a high roller.

It does not much matter whether you are a treasure hunter, gambling, trading, investing or running a business (big or selling kachang puteh). All of them entail a fair degree of risk and a lot of hard work sprinkled with a generous helping of luck.

Zero-Sum Game

Zero-Sum Game

Zero-Sum Game

Poker and gambling are popular examples of zero-sum games since the sum of the amounts won by some players equals the combined losses of the others. In game theory, the game of “Matching Pennies” is often cited as an example of a zero-sum game. ... This is a zero-sum game because one player's gain is the other's loss.

Zero-sum is a situation in game theory in which one person's gain is equivalent to another's loss, so the net change in wealth or benefit is zero. A zero-sum game may have as few as two players, or millions of participants. Zero-sum games are found in game theory, but are less common than non-zero sum games.

In contrast, non-zero-sum describes a situation in which the interacting parties' aggregate gains and losses can be less than or more than zero. A zero-sum game is also called a strictly competitive game while non-zero-sum games can be either competitive or non-competitive.

All the World's a Stage

The meaning of this phrase is that this world is like a stage show, and all human beings are merely actors.

Jacques has spoken this famous phrase in Act-II, Scene-VII of the play As You Like It. He says, “All the world's a stage,/ And all the men and women merely players.” The meaning of this phrase is that this world is like a stage show, and all human beings are merely actors.
