Larry Foley selections for Friday 24th August 2018

Larry Foley selections for Friday 24th August 2018

race 1: kranji stakes d (2) (set weights) - 1100m (polytrack) time: 18:20 prize money: s$38000

1 - GLORIA ECLIPSE - Wide gate is a concern but won in this Company two back and could be hard to beat in this weak field.
3 - ALLEGRO - Late Morning Turf. Has changed stables after running on OK at two starts. Recent trial suggests he can win.
9 - PARKER - Backing up from solid run (late) over same trip and could play a big part here from gate 2.

race 2: restricted maiden (2 and 3 year old) (weight for age) - 1200m (polytrack) time: 18:50 prize money: s$85000

11 - TRAPIO - Another debutante who has impressed at the trials and wins without surprising.
8 - SHAMARMAN - Looks the best of the newcomers on exposed local trial form and hard to beat.
2 - MACH - Ran second at only start in Australia (Morphettville) and has trialled well locally. Can win.

race 3: class 4 non premier - 1000m (polytrack) time: 19:20 prize money: s$45000

1 - EFFORTLESS - Ran on well late as expected to place this company last start and expect much the same with 4kg claimer.
6 - DRONE - Had support and was in the mix in slightly easier company last start but will win races like this so keep safe with blinkers removed.
2 - STOCK BROKER - Did it tough last start on the pace and did well to place but can win if he leads from gate 1.

race 4: maiden - 1600m (polytrack) time: 19:50 prize money: s$20000

8 - ACE HARBOUR - Another who is a big show on form and gets his chance with blinkers to visor but longterm maiden status is a concern.
2 - TUSCAN ARTIST - Query this surface but should lead from gate 1 and hard to pass on recent good - albeit turf - form.
4 - O'REILLY STAR - Longterm maiden status a concern but always some show and can win with blinker/pacifiers back on.

race 5: kranji stakes d (1) (set weights) - 1100m (polytrack) time: 20:20 prize money: s$38000

6 - HONOR - A year since last win but super honest and gets his chance in this field.
5 - THE GOLDEN GOAT - Led but had had enough late in better company last start and will look the winner at stages here with 4kg claim.
3 - ALAMOSA EXPRESS - Disappointing of late but gets headgear back on with Duric from gate 1 in suitable company so worth a look.

race 6: class 3 - 1100m (polytrack) time: 20:55 prize money: s$80000

1 - NOWYOUSEE - Trial star who can disappoint at the races but had shoe issues last start and worth another look.
6 - KISS YOUR SONG - Drawn wide and up in grade but won too well last start not be some hope with 53.5kg.
2 - HIMALAYA DRAGON - Not the type to win out of turn but has been doing it tough of late and goes close with softer run.

race 7: class 4 non premier - 1600m (polytrack) time: 21:25 prize money: s$45000

7 - KEY SUCCESS - Has been working hard from wide gates of late so appreciates nice alley and the step up to the mile won't hurt.
1 - GOL GOAL - In form and will get back from the wide gate and be running on strongly.
2 - GOLD FAITH - Another back marker who will work into winning calculations late.

race 8: class 4 non premier - 1200m (polytrack) time: 22:00 prize money: s$45000

1 - DREAMWEAVER - Looked to have every chance in running last start over 1400m after slick trial but happy to think 1200m and the Poly suits.
4 - SUN GENERAL - Handy enough Australian 4YO who had a crack at Group level over 1800m before arriving and worth thought although will improve over longer.
2 - NOVA CLASSIC - Tough run but only battled last start but won two back this trip and track so pay to follow.

Go tell it to the to the marines

Do think about it and do think rationally, long and very hard about it - If you can genuinely tell me that you really know when and where your winners will come from !!

Or else

Go tell it to the marines,

or Go take a long walk off a short pier,

or let me put it to you bluntly - Go get stuffed

It does not much matter at all whether you are selling kachang puteh or a high roller.

It does not much matter at all whether you are selling kachang puteh or a high roller.

It does not much matter whether you are a treasure hunter, gambling, trading, investing or running a business (big or selling kachang puteh). All of them entail a fair degree of risk and a lot of hard work sprinkled with a generous helping of luck.

Zero-Sum Game

Zero-Sum Game

Zero-Sum Game

Poker and gambling are popular examples of zero-sum games since the sum of the amounts won by some players equals the combined losses of the others. In game theory, the game of “Matching Pennies” is often cited as an example of a zero-sum game. ... This is a zero-sum game because one player's gain is the other's loss.

Zero-sum is a situation in game theory in which one person's gain is equivalent to another's loss, so the net change in wealth or benefit is zero. A zero-sum game may have as few as two players, or millions of participants. Zero-sum games are found in game theory, but are less common than non-zero sum games.

In contrast, non-zero-sum describes a situation in which the interacting parties' aggregate gains and losses can be less than or more than zero. A zero-sum game is also called a strictly competitive game while non-zero-sum games can be either competitive or non-competitive.

All the World's a Stage

The meaning of this phrase is that this world is like a stage show, and all human beings are merely actors.

Jacques has spoken this famous phrase in Act-II, Scene-VII of the play As You Like It. He says, “All the world's a stage,/ And all the men and women merely players.” The meaning of this phrase is that this world is like a stage show, and all human beings are merely actors.
